It’s that time of year again. Veterans Day is next week and people will be showing their gratitude to those who serve and have served to defend this nation. Some will throw parades, others will show their gratitude with a handshake, a thank you, or a simple nod. For most businesses, a discount or deal specific to servicemembers and veterans is the preferred method. And there are a lot of them out there that will do just that. (Seriously, even my local pound is giving discounts to veterans willing to adopt an animal.)
I am not, as many blogs do, going to do an individual round up of what is available out there – though I will let you in on a few that aren’t on these sites. Instead, I am going to pass on resources where you can find those deals and discounts both for Veterans Day and throughout the year.
First goodie zone – www.military.com
I’ve been subscribing to this site for news updates for years but recently discovered that they have a bunch of additional sections, one of which is the “Discounts” tab. Here you can find a variety of deals, to include ones on jewelry, clothing, flower orders, and more. These update regularly and have the expiration date printed in blue in each offer box.
If you want even more deals, you can create an account (for free) and, under the manage subscriptions section, you can elect to receive newsletters on different topics, to include discounts.
For a round up of Veterans Day specific deals, you can check out this page: http://www.military.com/veterans-day/veterans-day-military-discounts.html
This round up covers food, travel and recreation, retail, and miscellaneous categories. It lists the name of the company/organization giving the discount, which day(s) the discount applies, what the discount/deal is, who qualifies for it, and in some cases, whether you need proof (and if so, what) to take advantage of the deal. As the site cautions, if the business is a franchise, you’ll need to call your local location and confirm they are participating.
And, as a little bonus, here are the deals I was talking about that aren’t listed on the sites I’m covering this week:
Graciela Tiscareño-Sato, author the children’s book Good Night Captain Mama (which I reviewed last week: https://www.afterthedd214.com/good-night-captain-mama/), is offering up signed copies of the book in time for Veterans Day if you enter the code VETMOM with your order. But better hurry, the offer ends tomorrow (November 5th). www.captainmama.com
And Semper Sarah is offering a $150 discount for veterans interested in attending her “Just Roll With It” Yoga and Adventure Retreat in Costa Rica Jan 4-10 or 11-17, 2014. Head on over to her website to check out the details and secure your spot! http://www.sempersarah.com/retreat/
Happy Saving and tune in tomorrow for more deal and discount resources!
